Coniston FC enters FSC Women's Premier League!

Coniston FC is excited to announce our commitment to enter the Football South Coast Women’s Premier League from next season.

President John said, “Coniston FC has always aspired to be the destination club for footballers within the Illawarra region. Until now, the Club did not provide the opportunity for youth and senior women to play football at the highest level in the Football South Coast competition. Our commitment to enter the Women’s Premier League demonstrates our ambition to become a truly inclusive club by providing women the opportunity to participate at the level they choose.”

Coniston FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Nick Tortorella as the club’s new Women’s Premier League Head Coach.

Nick Tortorella is currently with the Macarthur Rams assisting coaches with their youth program, talent identification, and developing the skills and knowledge of female footballers. Previously, Nick has coached at the Illawarra Stingrays and South Coast Flame. With 30 years’ experience as a player and coach, Nick brings exceptional knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to the Club.

Nick said, “What drew me to this role is the opportunity to coach at an established club and the challenge of launching their first Women’s Premier League squad. Coniston FC is a club with a great sense of community and history. We want to have a team that plays a positive style of football, and I am really excited by what lies ahead for our squad and the club in general.”

Supporting Nick will be youth grade coach Shim Sumner, and women’s squad manager Daniel Elliott.

Shim Sumner has been actively playing football for the past 15 years and has dedicated himself to coaching junior and youth teams. Shim is currently coaching with Coniston FC juniors, and previously coached girls at Warilla, Figtree, South Coast Flame and the Illawarra Stingrays.
